Teaching
I design courses that help students connect sociological theory to concrete social problems through structured analytical practice: interpreting evidence, evaluating claims, and communicating findings clearly. My teaching emphasizes rigorous expectations with clear scaffolding, frequent low-stakes feedback, and opportunities to revise work over time.
Across courses, I foreground how race, class, and gender structure institutions and life chances. I treat the classroom as a space for serious inquiry where students can test ideas, develop methodological confidence, and build durable habits of sociological reasoning.
Mentoring and Advising
I support students who are considering graduate school, policy work, community research, and analytically oriented careers. Mentoring often focuses on building research questions, strengthening writing, and developing practical strategies for navigating academic institutions.
